Gary Cahill to Chelsea – How I Squashed the Rumors

January 10th – This was the day when many VERY credible sources, even Sky Sports, reported that the Cahill deal was all but done…

…however I was hearing a VERY different story and stuck with what had been reliable in the past, and I was very right…

January 13th – As a couple days passed and many sources were incorrect about the Cahill signing, more rumors popped up that Gary had left the Bolton squad (who were set to play Manchester United) and was traveling to London. I confirmed this was true as well (NOT from correspondence with Gary’s brother-in-law):

January 14th – Club sources hinted on Saturday the announcement may be pushed to Monday, which I also noted but the knowledge was quite public

January 16th – Gary Cahill signs for Chelsea

So there you have it, my recap of the entire Gary Cahill transfer saga, all-in-all it took 18 days from when a fee was agreed between Bolton and Chelsea to when Cahill was announced as a Chelsea player. What do you think of the way the whole transfer went down – the rumors, the lies, the truth? Feel free to comment below!

Thanks Vimal! If Hazard transfers it will likely move clubs in the summer unless it’s a very large bid, he is ineligible for the Champions League which decreases the interest of many major teams.

I enjoy what you’re doing, but from one Chelsea fan (who also happens to teach a course in Media Law) to another, it’d probably be a good practice to give credit as to where you’re getting quotes from. What you are doing is in fact a form of plagiarism (not to mention it is lazy and sloppy “reporting”). Just a heads-up.

    Go Blues!
